I am writing this post experiencing Nepal earthquake 2015 after one moth later.I hope this post could be a lesson for potential earthquake victim in the future. It was the worst natural disaster to strike Nepal since the 1934 Nepal–Bihar earthquake.[10][11][12] . The magnitude of earthquake then was of 8 on the Richter scale.
My father was born on same year 1934 earthquake, one of the worst earthquakes in the history of Nepal , killing 10,700 to 12,000 in Nepal . So my father can't tell much about this earthquake . There are so many people still alive who experienced that earthquake. So i have seen so many TV interviews and paper articles. As per these references people felt so many aftershock even up to 6 month.
Hear is a small clip i found in youtube explaining more about 1934 earthquake.
In between 1934 to 2015 Nepal experienced few earthquake of less the 7 magnitude. That's why I personally not felt such panic that all Nepalese are facing these days.So many aftershocks, so many rumors, fake prediction that went on viral in social media. Police arrested few and astrologer and blogger for publishing and interviewing on TV. Later they were freed after deleting those publication
The April 2015 Nepal earthquake (also known as the Gorkha earthquake)[8][9] killed more than 8,800 people and injured more than 23,000. It occurred at 11:56 NST on 25 April, with a magnitude of 7.8Mw[1] or 8.1Ms[2] and a maximum Mercalli Intensity of IX (Violent). Its epicenter was east of the district of Lamjung, and its hypocenter was at a depth of approximately 15 km (9.3 mi).[1
What was the magnitude of This Earthquake?
Chinese state owned TV and China Earthquake Network Center 8.1
United states geological survey 7.8
Here you can see the full details of Aftershocks. If we look at this table, immediately after half an hour of main shock a aftershock of 6.6 is recorded. Next day i.e. on 26 April another powerful a aftershock of 6.9 is felt in the afternoon. These two aftershock destroyed more houses in remote villages.
Red circled places Bahrabise and Singati well known in this area are highly populated village are badly destroyed. These places are also highly affected by landslide. Roads are closed by continuing aftershocks and landslide
I don't want to focus on this figure cause some of them may be LOCAL MAGNITUDE (ML), instrumental error, measurement distance from epicenter. But what i felt was a big one nearly for about a minute. It destroyed almost all mud, raw brick , stone made and several modern structural houses in and around Kathmandu City. About 14 district near Kathmandu including Gorkha, Dolaka, Sindupalchowk are badly destroyed.
It is supposed that Kathmandu city has 4 million population. Many of the Kathmandu Valley's historic monuments, buildings and temples were either completely destroyed or damaged. All High rise buildings are also damaged badly.Almost all houses have some kind of crack. Government has started to categorized by pasting a tag by RED, YELLOW and GREEN . Roads are badly destroyed. The tallest tower DHARAHARA (from where people used to see the city) in the heart of the city is completely destroyed.

Main tourist area of Kathmandu city, Basantapur Darbar square is destroyed very badly.
The life after even a month is still not normal. About 5-7 aftershocks are coming that to more than of 4 magnitude. Maximum number of house owner are leaving outside in a temporary shelter even in day time because of aftershocks.100 of aftershocks of more than of 4 magnitude are recorded, government official says 1000 of small less than 4 are recorded during this time .

affected area and aftershock |
When people used to, about these aftershock and convinced by information provided by concern authorities they started to come to their normal life. But they were again badly disturbed by another powerful aftershock of 6.8 followed by 5.8 and 6.2 on may 12th, 17 days after the main shock.
These aftershocks destroyed almost all villages of Dllakha and sindupalchowk

Again rumors, fake prediction that are viral earlier in social media, started to spread. Be ready, this day on this time or with in this week will again ........have to face 8-9 Richter scale earthquake.
This rumors are so viral in such panic days , there is nothing to talk about other than this issue.... BBC and USGS said this and that be careful.........but if we go on searching such thing we can not find anything anywhere............
I searched USGS aftershock advisory which shows very less around 1% chances of having a quake larger than main shock. Please click hear for further information
Why people run behind such rumors. It is good to understand the logic behind aftershocks rather tan running behind such rumors.
If your home is not livable, having cracks and given a red or yellow sticker by government authority it is go to alert and live outside, otherwise giving more attention without any logic may be harmful...in such case person see everywhere aftershocks. He/she can see a calender on wall, mirror moving. In such case they need some counseling by psychologist/psychiatrist
According to data by sources around six hundred thousand houses are affected. Among them one hundred fifty thousand houses destroyed completely. One hundred thousand houses in danger state, could be collapsed by aftershocks, or has to be destroyed manually for rebuild.Rest of the houses need partial rebuild.
This is the age of information technology, world is being considered as global village, so i feel if you have a smartphone, you can have a every information in your pocket or palm.
